CQC Regulatory Compliance

Dr Mashru is compliant with the policy of “Scope of registration with CQC: General exceptions and exemptions from registration.

Schedule 2 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014)

In Schedule 2, paragraph 3, an exception applies to the provision of treatment in a surgery or consulting room by a medical practitioner who is (or a group of medical practitioners who are):

  • a service provider already registered for the regulated activity of Treatment of disease, disorder or injury, or
  • employed by such a service provider and either
  • on the medical performers list for a designated body, or
  • employed by a service provider that is a designated body.

By medical practitioner, we mean a doctor registered with the General Medical Council.

Dr Mashru is a specialist Dr registered with the General Medical Council (GMC number 6159417). He is the Medical Lead ADHD Consultant at North London Mental Health Partnerships (previously referred to as Barnet, Enfield and Haringey NHS Mental Health Trust) and holds a substantive contract in that post. This is a service provider already registered for the regulated activity of Treatment of disease, disorder or injury.

He does not carry out any procedures from Schedule 2, Paragraph 4 which would fall outside of CQC exemption. His practise with ADHD Health Clinic is based at the Charterhouse Clinic, 98 Crawford Street, Marylebone London W1H 2HL, which is a CQC compliant building.

Controlled Drug Regulations

Many ADHD medications, in particular stimulant medications are classified by the MHRA as Schedule 2 controlled drugs and as such are sensibly heavily regulated.

Dr Mashru is compliant with these regulations.

He holds a prescribing pin/code and is allocated a Controlled Drugs Accountable Officer and prescriptions are written in the regulated format on FP10PCD prescription pads and follows the rules of “Controlled Drug declaration.”

As part of the above regulations, prescribers such as Dr Mashru cannot prescribe more than 30 days at a time of Schedule 2 controlled drugs.  All prescriptions are securely locked.

Furthermore, Dr Mashru works with a registered pharmacy that securely dispense and transport prescribed medications to his patients throughout the UK.  He works with a pharmacy that is compliant with all necessary regulations around auditing of prescriptions as well as safe handling and reporting of any adverse or suspicious incidences.  Click here for more details.
